Sinterklaas is a traditional Dutch feast, starting with the arrival of the saint in one of the harbors on the 3rd Saturday of November. And starting in all the towns and villages on the 3rd Sunday of November with a parade.
For the last few years, there has been a (sometimes aggressive) discussion about the figure of Zwarte Piet (Black Pete). It has too many dreadful memories of slavery. Some towns decided to ban the black-painted Petes and transform them into somebody else. To chimney sweepers or rainbow Petes.
Not in my village though. Here there were only black and brown ones.
